The rated psi is the pump’s discharge pressure as specified by the manufacturer and is printed on the equipment’s name plate. That plate lists essential data such as model, serial number, horsepower, voltage, and rpm, plus the rated discharge pressure (psi). This rating shows the pressure the pump is designed to develop under standard test conditions and is the value used for matching the pump to the system’s needs and for maintenance or replacement. System design calculations, NFPA tables, and local jurisdiction requirements guide what pressure you need or must meet, but they do not provide the pump’s own operating rating—the name plate does.
